Seoul police are continuing to search Monday for a suspected child rapist in another shocking case in which a young girl was attacked in broad daylight.
The suspect, believed to be in his 30s, approached a seven-year-old girl playing outside her home on Saturday while her parents were out working. The suspect took her inside her home and raped her, according to the police.
The victim was a Vietnamese-born child whose parents had come to South Korea a few years ago.
"We have identified the suspect's clothing and motorbike based on the girl's statement and made a composite sketch of him," a police official said. "We are looking into criminals who have similar crime records."
Earlier this month, a 44-year-old repeat sex offender was charged with kidnapping an eight-year-old girl from her elementary classroom and raping her.
Recurring sex crimes against children have prompted the government to introduce chemical castration, as public consensus grows for extraordinarily tough measures to curb heinous crimes against minors.
