Kwon Tae-kyun, former administrator of the Public Procurement Service, was named as new ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said Monday.
An economic bureaucrat, Kwon, 55, spent many years at the finance and other economy-related ministries and agencies.
Han Hong-soon, an economics professor emeritus at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, was appointed as ambassador to the Vatican.
Han, 67, has served as head of the Catholic Lay Apostolate Council of Korea since 2008.
