President Lee Myung-bak will fly to Singapore Friday to attend an annual regional security forum of defense ministers, Cheong Wa Dae said Monday.
During his two-day visit, Lee will hold a summit Saturday with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and give a keynote speech at the 9th Asia Security Summit on Korea's commitment to regional peace and security and its economic growth.
"The speech will focus on the country's rise from the devastation of the 1950-1953 Korean War and the goal to assume a greater role in the international community," the presidential office said.
He will also address the current security situation on the Korean peninsula and ask for support to maintain peace.
The security forum, known as the Shangri-La Dialogue, will draw defense ministers of 28 countries, including the United States, China and Japan. The event is organized by the London-based think tank, the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
