South Korea plans to boost its image as an IT powerhouse and promote its ``low carbon, green growth'' vision at the G-20 Summit slated for November in Seoul, organizers said Tuesday.
The government will offer state-of-the-art technologies for participants so that they can experience the essence of the country's IT, mobile and Internet industries.
The COEX center in southern Seoul, where the summit will be held, will also feature various carbon-free products to raise awareness on global warming, they said.
These measures were discussed at the fifth meeting of the Presidential Council on the G-20 Seoul Summit, attended by President Lee Myung-bak.
Lee visited the council to give a pep talk and to inspect the progress of preparatory programs for the Seoul summit, the largest ever international forum to be held here.
The meeting also focused on preparations for the G-20 meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors, scheduled to take place in Busan in early June.
``One of our biggest tasks is to mediate member nations on how to strengthen the financial safety net for emerging countries and reform the global financial sector, which will also be high on the agenda at the G-20 Summit,'' said a spokesman from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
In February, the country hosted a meeting of vice finance ministers and central bank vice governors of the G-20 member economies in Songdo International City.
President Lee said earlier that the G-20 countries will focus on accelerating reform of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, and addressing the needs of poor and developing nations to build up their economies.
