The governing Grand National Party (GNP) is now receiving internship applications from foreign students in Korea, Rep. Hong Jung-wook said Sunday.

Hong, chairman of the GNP's foreign relations committee, said these interns will be asked to produce English press releases for foreign correspondents based in Seoul, do research on major policy areas and craft advertising material for the ruling party during the internship program.

The party launched the global internship program to strengthen networking with the global media.

It also plans to invite foreign business executives, migrant workers and their families to a cross-cultural forum, dubbed ``Wake Up, Hannara,'' in order to give expatriates a say in formulating policy.

Hong said the GNP plans to expand dialogue with young ethnic Korean leaders living in the United States by networking with student associations, including the annual Korean American Students Conference.
