In a rare move, Chung Sye-kyun, chairman of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP), sent a potted flower Thursday to President Lee Myung-bak to mark the second anniversary of his inauguration.
Rep. Shin Hak-yong, chief secretary to Chung, said he presented the flower during a visit to Cheong Wa Dae.
The move comes amid growing interparty disputes over the government's revision of the Sejong City project under which nine ministries and four government agencies were scheduled to be relocated to South Chungcheong Province. Under the revised plan, Sejong City would become a business-friendly city.
The DP did not send a congratulatory message to the presidential office at the first anniversary of Lee's inauguration a year ago, amid interparty disputes over bills to reshape the media industry.
