Waking Up in Coffin

A beekeeper had a shock when he woke up in a coffin after he was knocked out by a sting, according to The Sun.

Dimwit medics pronounced 76-year-old Jozef Guzy dead when he fell unconscious after he was stung by a bee in southern Poland.

And unbelievably Jozef was packed into a coffin and driven to his local undertakers.

His wife Ludmila said: "I could not believe it when they said he was dead and the doctor put a white sheet over him and three hours later local undertakers pulled up and put him in a coffin and closed the lid."

Luckily the mistake was noticed when a panicked Jozef woke up and started shouting.

Undertaker Darius Charon said: "He was shouting and banging on the coffin ― he made enough noise to raise the dead so we couldn't miss him."

He said: "He had a lucky escape ― there is not a lot of air in those coffins. And he did need medical attention."

Polish Ambulance Service spokesman Jerzy Wisniewski said the emergency doctor involved had apologized.

He added that the medic had not taken the cold weather into account, saying: "The patient was not apparently breathing and the body had cooled ― the usual characteristics of death."

Mr Guzy said: "The undertaker saved my life. The first thing I did when I got out of hospital was take him a pot of honey."

죽었던 할아버지 관에서 깨어나

벌에 쏘여 죽었다고 진단받은 70대의 양봉가가 관에서 깨어나는 희한한 사건이 폴란드에서 일어났다.

삶과 죽음을 경험한 주인공은 폴란드 남부에 사는 양봉가 조제프 구지 (76).

평소 나이에 비해 건강을 유지해온 구지 할아버지는 이달 초 양봉작업을 하다가 벌에 쏘이는 예기치 못한 사고를 당했고, 심장마비를 일으킨 뒤 현장에서 의식을 잃었다.

부인 루드밀라에게 발견돼 병원으로 옮겨졌으나 이미 심장과 호흡이 멈춘 상태였다. 종합적인 상태를 검사한 의사가 회생 가망이 없다고 판단 1시간 여 만에 사망 선고를 내렸다.

부인은 "의사가 남편이 죽었다고 말하는 그 순간을 잊을 수 없다. 의사는 남편의 얼굴을 이불로 덮었는데 그 때 세상이 모두 끝나는 것 같은 아픔을 겪었다."고 말했다.

장례절차를 위해 가족들은 구지의 사체를 장의사 데리우스 차론의 집으로 옮겼다. 그곳에서 누구도 상상하지 못할 일이 벌어졌다. 장의사가 시체를 관에 넣고 뚜껑까지 닫았는데 쾅쾅 치는 소리와 함께 비명소리가 들린 것.

장의사는 "헛것이 들리는 것 같아 관 뚜껑을 열어보니 시체가 살아 있었다. 맥박도 느껴졌다. '하느님 감사합니다. 관에 못질을 안해서'라고 소리를 질렀다."고 말했다.

구지는 다시 병원으로 실려갔고 그곳에서 검진을 받았다. 사망선고를 내렸던 의사는 가족과 구지에게 사과했다.

담당 의사는 "분명 호흡이 없었고 심장 박동도 멈춘 상태였다"고 말했다.

구지 할아버지는 "장의사가 나를 살려주었다"면서 "병원에서 나가면 그를 찾아가 좋은 벌꿀을 선물하겠다"고 고마워했다.
