The Ministry of Justice is planning to reduce sentences and fines for informants in corruption scandals.

The ministry also plans to severely punish those making false testimonies during prosecutor's questioning. Victims will also be allowed to participate in the questioning of offenders alongside the investigators.

An advisory committee recommended such "innovations" to the ministry Tuesday for pertinent law revision. The authorities plan to make the changes public as early as the end of the year.

Prosecutors expect such changes to help in investigations. However, the long-wanted plea bargaining, where prosecutors and the court could negotiate on sentencing before the trial, was not accepted.
