Many unmarried women here undergo cosmetic surgery in order to attract a desirable husband, a survey showed Wednesday

According to a survey conducted by matchmaking agency Wedian and Banobagi Beauty Clinic on 544 single males and 494 females who visited the clinic or its Web site, 53.4 percent of women said they had surgery or were interested in doing so to meet a becoming husband. Self-satisfaction and to fix problems in appearance trailed as the second- and third-most popular reasons, respectively.

About 58.5 percent of males surveyed said they don't have a problem with their prospective wives having minor procedures such as double eyelid surgery or botox injections. However, they said they would object to serious augmentation of facial bones or others features.

Less than 1 percent said they have no objections to any procedures their future wives may take to surgically enhance their looks, no matter how major.

"It seems that men do prefer pretty wives, if it means a small amount of medical help," the agency said in a press release.

However, only 11.1 percent of the women said they don't have any problems with their future husbands undergoing cosmetic procedures.
