A county office has put out a list of what it considers to be the top eight nuisances at year-end parties, with the No. 1 being those who take pride in drinking heavily.
The Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, county office posted the list on its intranet with the help of its health office so its employees can try to survive the series of year-end parties without getting sick.
Second on the list is people who insist on having "boilermakers," a mixture of beer and soju or whiskey.
The rule with boilermaker drinking is everyone at the table should take their turn with no exceptions drinking down a potent glass of the mixed drink in one go. Those who drink lightly or "sipping" types hate it, sometimes causing conflict between the instigator and the person who should drink.
The third type is people who trade shots with others, with the aim of having the other participants at the table drink as much as he or she does. The fourth is a "bottoms-up" drinker, who keeps downing his drink in one gulp.
The other types on the list include drunk drivers, drinkers who don't eat side dishes, day drinkers and those who force others to go bar-hopping all night long.
The county office also posts a warning together with the list, saying, "If anybody identifies himself with five or more types, he or she not only is a menace to himself but also others. The list is something one should bear in mind for the sake of the health of others as well as their own."
