Seoul City won the Korea PR Award for its online public relations section, beating big private companies.

The Korea PR Award is given by the Korea Public Relations Association (KPRA).

As part of efforts to foster a sense of affection for the capital city, City Hall held a knowledge-sharing campaign through the Internet asking citizens to register Seoul-related terms on Wikipedia and other similar online sites.

The city urged Seoulites to list popular attractions such as Gwanghwamun Plaza and Banpo Bridge’s Rainbow Waterfall on Wikipedia.

Seoul City started the campaign to record all terms related to Seoul in terms of the environment, history, tourism and more on online portal site Daum.

During the campaign, more than 1,600 entries were updated and 500 new entries were registered.

“The trend of Web 2.0, including participation, sharing and openness, is effective,” said a city official. “Our campaign successfully linked this medium not just Seoul with citizens but also people in other parts of the world to help them know more about Korea.”
