Smoking will not be permitted in any taxis in Seoul, starting next month, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Wednesday.
City-issued no-smoking stickers will be attached inside cabs. Drivers as well as passengers will be banned from smoking inside. Currently, taxi drivers are prohibited from smoking only when there is a passenger, but the new rule will require both parties not to light up.
Drivers will also have to wear uniforms and the management of taxi companies must install customer services hotlines running 24/7.
