The Seoul Design Olympiad (SDO) 2009 will offer various design events from Oct. 9 to 29 at Jamsil Sports Complex and other areas around the city.

The Olympiad has a total of 65 programs under the theme of "i Design" - four conferences, 30 exhibitions, two design competitions and 29 festivals.

The biggest difference this year is that participants can "buy and sell" designs through the Design Olympiad programs. The "i-Brand Market Place" will show various environment-friendly everyday items developed by small- and medium-sized enterprises.

"World Design Market" will be a platform for circulating the designs of local and international designers. "Architecture, A User's Manual" exhibits architectural designs from around the world.

The stadium seats will be filled with "eco and green" designs of Seoulites. Twenty-five districts and many companies will put environment-friendly items on display. In addition to the main events at the Jamsil Sports Complex, citizens can watch "Design Seoul Tube," a sub-exhibition of the SDO, at Gwanghwamun Plaza and Seoul Plaza.

Stylish areas such as Garosugil, the tree-lined street in Sinsa-dong, and Hongdae, the area around Hongik University, are designated as Seoul Design Spots.
