South Korea and Tanzania agreed Tuesday to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.
The agreement came in a meeting between President Lee Myung-bak and the African country's Prime Minister Mizengo Kayanza Peter Pinda at Cheong Wa Dae.
Prime Minister Pinda is visiting Seoul to discuss ways to strengthen economic ties and to discuss Korea's development experience with local officials.
President Lee asked Tanzania to allow more Korean businesses to take part in its projects to build infrastructure, including the one to set up a city in Kigamboni, and develop mineral resources.
Pinda extended his appreciation to Lee for Korea's economic assistance and asked to learn the intricacies of Korea's development experience.
He told Lee that Tanzania wants to cooperate with Korea for the successful implementation of its Kilimo Kwanza (Agriculture First) program, the presidential office said.
President Lee highly praised the economic progress of Tanzania, which has implemented economic reforms aimed at shifting to a free market.
