A golf club has been held liable for injuries suffered by a golfer who was struck by another player's golf ball, the Seoul High Court said Monday.

Judge Gwak Jong-hun upheld a lower court's ruling that a golf club in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, pay 180 million won ($130,000) in compensation to a golfer, Lim, for mismanagement of facilities.

In 2004, while the plaintiff was preparing to tee off on the sixth hole, he was hit by a ball from the ninth hole. He lost his vision in his left eye.

``The distance between the sixth hole and the ninth hole is a mere 120 to 150 meters. The management and caddies assisting Lim were supposed to inform him of any possible danger. However, there was no warning sign or prior safety education for the players," Gwak said.
