Rep. Park Geun-hye will visit Hungary, Denmark and Belgium from Aug. 24 to Sept. 5 as President Lee Myung-bak's special envoy, Cheong Wae Dae said Monday.
As presidential envoy, she will deliver letters to Lee's counterparts during the European visit.
She will meet with Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom, Danish Queen Margrethe II and EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.
Park will leave for Budapest, Hungary on Aug. 24 to attend a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral relations. She will be in Copenhagen Aug. 30 to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and Denmark.
Park will also visit Brussels, Belgium, for a meeting with European Commission leaders to seek support for a Korea-EU free trade agreement.
The former chairwoman of the governing Grand National Party (GNP) ran unsuccessfully against Lee in the GNP's presidential primary in 2007 and now leads the party's second-largest faction in the governing party.
Lee first proposed the appointment of Park as presidential envoy to the European Union in January during a private meeting between the two political rivals.
