An unidentified monk, 47, was apprehended for allegedly beating a female Buddhist, 42, to death, police said Monday.
The prosecution sought a warrant to arrest the monk at a temple in Gwangyang in South Jeolla Province on charges of hitting the female adherent ㅡ known here as ``bosal'' ㅡ in the face with a bottle, police said.
``I resorted to violence in a fit of anger, while I was chiding her for meeting a man,'' the monk was quoted as saying by police.
The suspect surrendered himself to police two days after he killed the woman.
