A four-year-old girl was killed Saturday when a 1.5 meter-tall, 45 kilogram-signboard left in the hallway of the Lotte Duty Free Shop in Jamsil, southern Seoul, fell over and hit her head Saturday afternoon.
According to witnesses, the mother tried to stop the sign from falling but failed and it hit the girl, identified as Lim, who was waiting for an elevator. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital.
Lotte said the fixture was awaiting repair and was being moved to a corner of the building. Police are questioning Lotte managers.
