Musical Events at Seoul Plaza

On almost every evening in July, Seoulites will be able to enjoy opera, classical and Korean traditional music concerts as well as fashions shows and other performances to help cool off during the tropical summer nights.
A total of 26 events, featuring everything from ``Don Giovanni’’ to non-verbal break dance performance ``Marionette,’’ will take place at Seoul Plaza in front of the City Hall from 7:30 p.m., the Seoul Metropolitan Government said Wednesday.
Operas that were performed only at specialized theatres will be held at the plaza’s open stage. Pop music columnist Lim Jin-mo will deliver the tunes of ABBA, The Beatles, Queen and many others during the ``This is Classic Pop’’ series.
World-renowned baritone Kim Dong-kyu, Korean musical quartet Clue and many others will show off their talents as well as amuse the audience.
The event series has already become a landmark since it began on May 17, and more than 70,000 citizens as well as foreign tourists have attended 30 events. ``We have steady fans already who are waiting for the latest events,’’ city official Lee Nam-sook said.
