A group of importers and car repairers were apprehended for selling a laser beam device that prevents speed cameras from taking photos of number plates.
Police booked two importers and seven car repair shop owners for selling and circulating the illegal equipment. They also questioned 41 drivers, who purchased the gadget.
According to the police, the importers brought in around 180 of the gadgets, dubbed ``Zemini,'' from the U.K since last October and earned 24 million won ($19,000) in sales.
The equipment, the size of half of an adult hand, is installed on a license plate. If it senses a speed camera, it blurs the images by shooting a laser beam at the lens, police said.
