Three hundred elementary school students learned skills required to become great leaders this week at a training camp in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
The two-day camp, co-organized by the Hankook Children's Daily, a sister paper of The Korea Times, and Allianz Life Insurance, wrapped up on Friday at the Allianz training center.
The participants from primary schools in Seoul, Guri and Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, completed leadership orientation and participated in activities that included hip hop dancing and a camp fire.
``A positive attitude and differentiated viewpoint will help overcoming any hardship wisely,'' said Allianz Vice President Lee Myung-jae.
The publisher of the children's daily, Moon Hyun-suk, addressed the students during the camp's opening ceremony Thursday. ``Take a close look at a flower and a blade of grass and try to find new things in nature,'' Moon.
Friday's activities included a lecture from mountaineer Choi Chong-yol's, a quiz game and an art appreciation course.
The twice-yearly camp was launched in 1992 to celebrate 10,000th issue of the children's daily. Some 10,000 primary school students have completed the course to date.
