The European Union has confiscated millions of dollars deposited by North Korea to buy two Italian luxury yachts.
The Japanese Jiji Press reported over the weekend that European authorities confiscated the money due to the uncertain source of the capital and the North's violation of U.N. Sanction 1718.
The sanction, first imposed in 2006 after North's nuclear test, banned the trade of luxury goods with North Korea.
The country might face further sanctions following its launch of a satellite Sunday.
Accounts on North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's private life have been kept secret, except for his passion for films and foreign wines.
However, Kim's former bodyguard, Lee Young-kuk, who fled to South Korea in 2002, disclosed Kim's exclusive private indoor swimming pool with a wave machine, a seven-story pleasure palace equipped with bar, karaoke machine and a mini movie theater, during an interview with Time magazine.
