Changwon City said it will carry out measures to create more jobs in eco-friendly projects and help boost the regional economy.

Changwon Mayor Park Wan-su announced a three-point action plan at a meeting with officials from the central government and the city at the Convention Center in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province.

The three points are the creation of more jobs, an earlier implementation of the budget, and the stabilization of the livelihood of ordinary citizens. Changwon's project is in line with the central government's plan to spend about 50 trillion won to create 960,000 new jobs by 2012 with green growth projects.

At the call of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, Changwon will make active preparations for protecting low-income groups that have been hit hard by the prolonged economic slump.

In accordance with the central government's plans to spend more than 60 percent of its budget in the first half of the year, the city should execute its budget quickly and accurately, Park said.

``The municipal government will put coping with the economic crisis as a top priority. All civil servants should do their utmost to revitalize the economy,'' Park said.

Changwon has held several forums regarding small business owners, the local food industry, the low-income bracket and the construction sector.
