Police Friday apprehended an employee of an educational institute, identified as Kim, who allegedly fabricated TOEIC test grades in exchange for money from test takers. Head of the institute, identified as Kwon, was also booked without physical detention.

Police also booked 14 people without detention for using the forged score sheets to obtain school admissions. They are also looking for another 10 suspects.

``The institute put advertisements online promising better TOEIC scores if they took the test in the Philippines from last April to December and took 24 applicants to the Philippines. Kim also allegedly forged grade sheets to meet their needs,'' a police officer said.

The institute has received 2.5-3.5 million won ($1,900-2,600) per individual depending on the applicant's desired score, police said. They took a total of 85 million won ($64,000).

The Korea TOEIC Committee requested the police investigate the matter after finding some counterfeit grade sheets of law school applicants.

The forged scores were allegedly used to gain admissions to law schools and public enterprises or to serve with the Korean Augmentation Troops to the United States Army (KATUSA).
