President Lee Myung-bak will visit the United States and South America from Nov. 14 to 25 to attend the Group of 20 financial summit and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, Cheong Wa Dae announced Monday.
Lee will leave Friday for Washington D.C., for talks with U.S. President George W. Bush and other leaders of the G20 countries to discuss ways to tackle the worldwide financial crisis, the office said.
Lee will then make an official visit to Brazil from Nov. 17 to 19 and a state visit to Peru from Nov. 20 to 21 where he will attend the two-day APEC summit in Lima, from Nov. 22, it said.
On his way home, Lee will stop over in Los Angeles and meet with Californian state leaders and a group of Korean-American residents, the office said.
He is scheduled to return Nov. 26.
