Glorious shades of autumnal foliage will peak on Oct. 20 at Mt. Seorak as trees will begin to shed their leaves from around Sept. 29.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said Thursday that mountains will see trees turn red and yellow from late this month.
The date is three days later than last year because the temperature is 0.5 degrees Celsius higher than the average.
Unlike Mt. Seorak, Mt. Geumgang will show off its new colors around Sept. 27 before peaking on Oct. 18.
Other mountains such as Jiri, Halla and Naejang will also be full of tinted maples and other foliage around Oct. 12, 17 and 21, respectively.
The weather agency defines the foliage tinting as when 20 percent of leaves remain green, while 80 percent are in the process of changing color.
