Suicide is the second major cause in teenager deaths, the government announced Sunday.
According to the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, some 25 percent of teenager deaths were attributed to suicide in 2006.
Of the 937 teenagers who died in 2006, 233 committed suicide while 357 died of cancer, 66 drowned and 44 died of heart disease.
About half of teenagers who took their own lives chose to jump off high structures such as apartments while 37 percent hanged themselves.
The main reason behind suicide was their failure to adjust to school life (11.7%), followed by troubled relationship with parents (7.0%), depression (6.0%) and physical diseases (4.7%), the ministry said.
