Rescue Team Dispatched to Quake-hit China

A group of rescue workers has been dispatched to the western Chinese province of Sichuan that was hit by a powerful earthquake, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced Friday.
The group consists of 41 rescue workers from the National Emergency Management Agency and four officials of the Korea International Cooperation Agency, the ministry said.
The government will also push for the dispatch of medical manpower, if China wants, the ministry said in a press release.
In addition, the government plans to send emergency aid material, including tents and blankets, to the area by a special cargo plane Sunday.
Earlier, the government said it will provide China with emergency funds and aid material worth $1 million.
