Delegates of the Korean Metal Workers' Union, an affiliate organization of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, are to visit North Korea Saturday to forge ties between the laborers of the two Koreas.

This is the first time people from the non-governmental field visited the North to share ideas since the launch of the Lee Myung-bak administration in February.

The group spokesman Ahn Jung-hwan said that 12 members including the union president Jeong Gap-deuk had entered Pyongyang Sunday to meet their counterparts_ metal laborers in the North.

During the five-day-trip, both sides will hold discussions on a project for the South to help the North establish an auto-repair shop.
