A motorcyclist was caught on an expressway protesting the law banning motorcycles from being ridden on expressways.

The Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency said Sunday that its highway patrollers arrested a biker identified as Kim, 33, who had ridden his bike on a highway between Cheongwon and Sangju, North Chungcheong Province.

Kim is a member of the Korea Motorcycle Reference Group (KMRG), which calls for the use of expressways for motorcyclists. He was caught after riding on the car-only road for about 10 minutes en route to Seoul.

``This is a protest to call on the government to revise the law prohibiting motorbikes from freely riding on any kind of road in the country,'' Kim was quoted as saying by police.

The motorcycle rights group has filed a constitutional petition with the Constitutional Court, demanding the law banning motorcycles on expressways infringes on bikers' freedom of mobility.
