A number of U.S. universities will take part in the large-scale ``American Education Expo,'' scheduled for Wednesday at Lotte Hotel, downtown Seoul.
Admission officials from 16 colleges including the University of North Texas, University of South Carolina, University of Wisconsin Whitewater and St. John's University will present their school programs to U.S. university hopefuls with information on scholarship programs.
Students can find out if they are eligible for scholarships from these schools if they bring copies of their school transcripts and TOEFL scores.
Organized by the International Student Network and supported by the U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Department of Commerce, the event takes place every year in Latin America, the Middle East, India, China and Japan. It is the first time for Korea to hold the education fair. No appointments are needed for counseling.
In addition, the one-day event will hold a visa seminar presented by a U.S. visa consul from the embassy to explain about foreign students' ability to obtain visas and the various steps in the application process.
According Immigration and Customs Enforcement, some 639,000 foreign students are studying in the United States as of last year. Among them, Korea has nearly 100,000.
