Announcers Dance Tops Online News

Announcer Choi Song-hyun’s dance grabbed the most attention from netizens of Naver, the nations largest search engine, last week. Choi did the ``Tell Me’’ dance last Thursday on KBS’ weekly TV show, ``Sangsang (imagination) Plus.’’

The dance, the creation of a teenage girl band, is now enrapturing all generations in Korea and many female announcers have performed the dance on TV entertainment shows.

In Korea, female announcers are associated with a conservative demeanour as they air anchor news programs requiring balance and objectivity. However, more and more woman announcers nowadays are starting to appear on entertainment shows where they reveal their unique personalities to TV viewers.

Coming in second was singer Baek Ji-young who gave a lecture to college students last Monday. Baek shared her experiences in the music entertainment market with some 100 students present.

The pop diva mentioned her ``video scandal’’ as an opportunity for growth. In the fall of 2000, a videotape of her having sex with her former manager was exposed. Baek disappeared from entertainment circles after the scandal, returning last year with a new music album.

Although it has been two weeks since Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony was held, the movie awards event came in third among the most searched key words’ list. The film ceremony also put actress’ name Park Si-yeon as the ninth most searched term. During the ceremony, Park wore a dress, which boldly exposed much cleavage.

Coming in the fourth was ``Taewangsasingi'' (The Four Guardian Gods of the King), a blockbuster TV drama, followed by TV show program, ``Sponge.’’

Actress Kim Hee-sun and figure skating princess Kim Yu-na placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Actress Kim who married a businessman last October disclosed some pictures showing partsof her new house on her mini blog. Figure skater Kim who recently won her second Grand Prix gold of the season has continued to draw netizens’ attention.

Coming in eight was singer See Ya who last week released her new music, ``Gudoo (shoes) II’’ and Wonder Girls closed the top 10 key words’ list. The popular girl group has started to hit the overseas music market. ``Tell Me’’ by the group stormed to the top of MTV Thailand’s International Charts last week.
