60% of Workers Stressed by Need for English Proficiency

Six out of ten office workers here are stressed because of the need for English proficiency.
A survey of 1,076 workers conducted by Job Korea, an Internet-based job information provider, showed 689 workers or 64.1 percent felt pressured to improve their English ability.
More than 46 percent said they were distressed and afraid of falling behind their colleagues with better English skills.
About 27 percent said they were not able to handle their work well because of their lack of English proficiency.
Of the total, 10.7 percent said not being competent in English might affect their company's assessment of their performance.
Around 31 percent said they felt they were at a disadvantage due to their low English language level.
