Malfunctioning Airplane Returns to Busan

A Vietnamese Airlines passenger airplane carrying 153 passengers returned to Busan due to mechanical problems on Wednesday morning just 20 minutes after takeoff from Gimhae International Airport.

Vietnam Airlines flight VN971 took off at 11:06 a.m. bound for Ho Chi Minh City, but was forced to return to Busan after pilots reported a mechanical malfunction, according to an official at the airport.

The passengers disembarked and had to wait at the airport, the official said. Other airport officials declined to disclose details, saying that they were investigating the exact cause of the problem and the malfunction was not serious. There were no reports of injuries.
