Professor Baik Sung-gi was appointed Thursday as president of Pohang University of Science and Technology (Postech).
The university’s board of trustees selected Baik, 58, as the fifth president of the school to succeed Park Chan-mo.
He will serve a four year term after his inauguration on Sept. 1.
Graduated from Seoul National University in Metallurgical Engineering major in 1971, Baik gained Ph.D. in Matrials Science from Cornell University in 1981.
Baik started to work at Postech as a professor since 1983 and served vice as president of the school between 1998 and 2000.
