The Ministry of Justice plans submit to the National Assembly a revision bill that will force sex criminals with psychosexual disorders to take court-ordered rehabilitation programs at a custodial institution after serving their sentence, ministry officials said Friday.
Currently, such rehabilitation programs for criminals are only offered to those with mental problems, drug addicts and alcoholics after they serve their sentence.
The revision is an attempt to reduce recidivism among those committing sex crimes.
The rehabilitation period could last up to seven years and to prevent violating the human rights of the offenders, thorough psychiatric examinations will be carried out if the court decides they should take the program, an official said.
