Korean Women Leaders Around World Meet

Listen

Korean women leaders around the world got together here Wednesday to discuss ways to enhance their role in the globalization of their motherland and help raise next-generation Korean female leaders.

Among the participants at the three-day conference of the 7th Korean Women's International Network, hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality at the Sheraton Walker Hill Hotel, are about 130 ethnic Korean women from 27 countries and 250 South Korean citizens, according to organizers.

Gender Equality Minister Jang Ha-jin delivered a speech at the gathering stressing the importance of networking for female leaders in a rapidly globalizing world.

"In a borderless, globalized society, there will be competition between networks, not between nations," she said. "We need to work closely not only to reinforce our existing network, but also to raise the female leaders of the next generation."
