Asiana In-Flight Menu to Show Calories

Listen

Passengers in first class on Asiana Airlines flights will be able to know the calorific value of their in-flight meals from this month as the carrier will put the number of calories in each meal on its menus.

The service, the first of its kind in Korea, is designed to satisfy passengers following the ``well-being’’ trend, the company said.

Asiana will introduce the service on the Incheon-Hong Kong, Incheon-Los Angeles, and Incheon-Frankfurt routes, and expand it to all classes of other long-range routes in September.

The calories are based on a food ingredients table from the National Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology and a nutrition analysis program from the Korean Nutrition Society.

``Passengers who need to limit their calorie intake will be able to control their food consumption through the information on the menu,’’ an Asiana official said.

The carrier will also soon present new low-calorie, healthy in-flight meals using chicken breast, beef tenderloin, vegetable and tomato coulis sauce.
