Black holes of the past

Today, I read that scientists have discovered that the DNA of a humanoid fossil is over 400,000 years old. History changes. What we know today won’t be what they will know in 100 years’ time.

Yesterday a student had written a poem about youth. She wrote that when a caterpillar becomes a butterfly it doesn’t remember its life as a caterpillar. I asked her where she got her information from, and she replied that she had read it in a book.

Why do we pretend to know things about other living creatures, we cannot possibly know?

Last night, I dreamed about whales and how we don’t yet know why whales beach themselves. We grow up being told the idea that animals are not as smart as humans, that humans are the only species that have sympathy, compassion and love. But in my dream, I dreamt that some families of whales beach themselves because their leader had died. The remaining whales do not know how to continue living so they beach themselves in remorse and sorrow.

Was my dream reaching too far? Romanticising nature? What is a dream anyway and why do we have them?

While I was flicking through the Guinness Book of Records: 2010, I came across a photograph of two very tall Dutch girls. The caption beneath stated that some scientists believe the reason the Dutch are so tall is because they eat a lot of dairy produce. What struck me was that even now with all our technology, scientists still don’t really know how to explain this anomaly. Aryans or aliens?

Is it just a coincidence that both the Giza Pyramids and the Pyramids of the Sun, thousands of miles away from each other, are both positioned in a formation that parallels the three stars of Orion’s’ Belt? Some believe that the Sphinx originally had the head of a lion with its gaze looking out to the constellation Leo. Others have also documented that there are water striations on the Sphinx that led them to believe that the Sphinx existed in a climate of wet weather. If there had been a global shift, imagine what discoveries could be made under the ocean floor. Anyone for a glass of Atlantis?

We believe the dinosaurs died out after an extinction event 64 million years ago. But then how is it possible that the Ica Stones believed to be around 1000 years old, feature walking dinosaurs etched into them- living side by side with man. Our understanding of dinosaurs and their existence is relatively new. The word ‘dinosaur’ was not a word until 1814. We build our knowledge on the knowledge of those that came immediately before us. But what if that knowledge was wrong? If the foundations for a house are not correct, we should not continue to build our Ivory Towers on unstable ground. The further away we get from our past, the less we understand it.

My argument is that living inside a boxed world is dark and lonely. We cannot see each other. We can’t see ourselves. We live in the dark, so we invented the light bulb. But this means we live in a falsely lit up world, a man made lit up world. We think living like our neighbours while not knowing our neighbours means we are a part of our society, our culture and our nation. But what is a nation but one dimensional lines drawn across a 2 dimensional page?

All we need to do is literally and intuitively pull down our very high fences and walk out our automatic front gates.
