Dear editor,
Though this may already be a much belated suggestion for the purpose; however, I would nevertheless like to take the liberty of presenting this suggestion.
How about "Korea-Japan Sea" for "East Sea;" or "Donghae" in order that the international body or those from the Japanese side may look upon our ``claim’’ as being somewhat more reasonable and manageable in scope for deliberation and a final compromise.
The designation reading: ``Donghae’’ or ``East Sea,’’ as its English translation, may appear at best very vague with its nuance being void of substantiality in terms of national identity of the very state with which a designation should establish an ostensible linkage. Donghae of what? East Sea of what?
If we are to achieve our purpose in this situation, I think we should not lose sight of the common sense rule.
I do submit the above suggestion simply out of my love for my native land, our beloved Korea.
