InterBattery 2026 to become battlefield for courting robotics firms

Korea’s leading battery makers announced Monday that they will unveil products and technologies designed for robotic applications at the upcoming InterBattery 2026 trade show in Seoul, signaling a shift in focus from the sluggish electric vehicle market.

LG Energy Solution (LGES) will showcase LG Electronics’ CLOiD humanoid home robot, which drew wide attention at CES 2026 in Las Vegas earlier this year.

The Carti100 autonomous mobile robot (AMR) developed by Bear Robotics, an LG Electronics subsidiary, will also be on display during the three‑day event starting March 11.

The battery maker said it will highlight the broad use of its high‑performance cylindrical batteries in both household and industrial robots.

“Visitors will be able to explore our all‑solid‑state battery technology, which will power next‑generation robots,” an LGES official said.

Samsung SDI will also present its all‑solid‑state battery technology as a key solution for various forms of physical artificial intelligence (AI), including humanoid, mobile and industrial robots requiring high‑performance computing and precise actuation that demand high energy density, consistent power output and enhanced safety.

The company said it plans to begin mass production of all‑solid‑state batteries in the second half of next year as it prepares for the forthcoming robotics era.

SK On will feature Hyundai WIA’s AMR, equipped with its high‑nickel ternary batteries and deployed at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Georgia.

POSCO Future M will showcase next‑generation materials suitable for batteries used in humanoid robots.

“We will present our progress in developing silicon anode materials, along with cathode materials for all‑solid‑state batteries — a technology expected to be a game changer for the robotics industry,” the battery materials unit of POSCO Group said.

Korea’s three major battery manufacturers will also compete to attract energy storage system (ESS) operators.

LGES plans to display its JF2 DC LINK 5.0 system, which uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and which the company touts as optimized for Korea’s energy infrastructure and regulations.

The firm will also showcase emergency power supply technologies designed to ensure stable operation at AI data centers.

Samsung SDI will unveil Samsung Battery Intelligence, an AI‑based fire‑prevention software solution that improves ESS performance and safety. It will also present uninterruptible power supply and battery backup unit technologies for AI data centers.

The full lineup of Samsung Battery Box, an all‑in‑one ESS battery solution, will be on display as well, highlighting its easy deployment, enhanced fire resistance and long lifespan.

SK On will introduce its LFP battery pouch for ESS, along with a containerized ESS direct‑current block featuring electrolyte impedance spectroscopy technology for proactive safety management.
