Everland is bringing Netflix’s smash hit animation “KPop Demon Hunters” to life with a brand new themed zone this fall.
Samsung C&T Resort Group, the operator of the theme park, announced Monday it is partnering with Netflix to create an immersive “KPop Demon Hunters” zone starting Sept. 26.
The zone will feature storylines and popular characters from the film, including Huntrix and Saja Boys, as well as K-food to invite visitors into the movie’s universe.
The animated film tells the story of a K-pop girl group battling against demons to protect their fans from an ever-present supernatural danger. It was a massive success, remaining on Netflix’s Top 10 chart for films since its release in June.
The animation became the streaming service’s most-watched film ever within two months of its launch, with 236 million total views, surpassing Hollywood blockbusters “Red Notice” and “Carry-On.”
Its soundtrack also garnered huge popularity, sweeping global music charts like the U.S. Billboard and U.K. Singles Charts. One of the songs, “Golden,” has topped Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for two weeks.
Everland’s upcoming themed zone will blend Korean aesthetics and tradition into an immersive space for visitors to relive their favorite scenes and soundtrack hits from the film, including “Golden,” “Soda Pop” and “Your Idol.” It will offer interactive features such as mission-based games and photo zones inspired by Huntrix and Saja Boys, character cosplay, snacks from the film and exclusive merchandise.
“This collaboration with Netflix will be a special project that allows guests to experience the world of ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ with all five senses,” a company official said in a press release.
“We expect Everland to serve as a cultural hub, introducing Korean culture to both local and international visitors.”
This is the third time the theme park has collaborated with Netflix, following last year’s themed zone based on the streaming service’s apocalyptic original series “All of Us Are Dead” and the hit horror series “Stranger Things,” which drew significant buzz among visitors.
Meanwhile, Everland has continued to expand its own intellectual properties, including Bao Family and Lessey & Friends, while also teaming up with global franchises like Netflix, Sanrio characters and “One Piece” to deliver fresh experiences.
The theme park’s annual fall festival, which kicks off Friday, will bring to life the fantasy adventure of “The Wizard of Oz,” staging themed zones like Emerald City and Blood City throughout the park to spread seasonal magic.
