By the time summer rolls around, many try to lose weight as they prepare to wear more revealing clothes.

Among them, some even consider undergoing minimal invasive procedures to boost their body confidence.

Cosmetic surgeon Son Moo-hyun says that if weight loss is accompanied by minimal invasive procedures, one can expect a better body shape.

According to him, body botox helps people avoid over-developed muscles and create smooth body lines.

“If a patient has too much fat, liposuction, or a surgery that removes fat from the body, can be the right solution,” Son said.

“On the other hand, if a patient's muscles are too prominent, I recommend injecting body botox to get rid of the bulky muscles.”

Son added that a growing number of patients inject botulinum toxin in their body parts, like shoulders, calves and armpits, to reduce the muscle mass.

“Body botox can specifically target certain body parts. For instance, it can be used in deltoid and tricep muscles,” he said.

Since the basic principle of botox is to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing the muscles, it effectively shrinks muscles and prevents the formation of new ones.

For this reason, it is applied in various cosmetic procedures. However, Son says that a patient needs to be cautious when choosing a clinic and a surgeon.

“Even though the same toxin is used for the injection, depending on a surgeon's skills or a patient's skin condition, the result may be different,” Son said.

“The effect, in general, shows up two to three weeks after the procedure.”

He explained that the effect lasts for about 6 months. “When you want the effect to last longer, it is better to take additional treatment or not to activate the muscles of the treatment area,” he said.

Another procedure Son recommends is the “body sculpture injection,” which is a type of injection lipolysis used for specific areas of the body.

It is a cosmetic procedure in which drug mixtures are administered into patients to destroy fat cells.

“I recommend body sculpture injection to those who want to remove partially protruded fat,” he said. “I operate using a cannula instead of a needle, and drugs I use don't have steroids for the safety of patients.”

When asked how body sculpture injections differ from liposuction, Son said that injectable treatments, in contrast to surgery, have significantly less downtime and it leaves no scar behind.

“The body sculpture injection requires much less money and is available to anyone in a half-hour procedure,” he said.
