Clothes maketh the worker: survey

What you wear at work could affect your performance, according to a survey.

Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo surveyed 1,000 office workers aged 25 to 50 and more than half thought clothing affects their performance.

Only 3.7 percent said clothing had nothing to do with performance.

When it comes to “cool biz,” or cool business look, 25.8 per cent of respondents said linen shirts and trousers were acceptable at work, followed by short-sleeve button-up shirts and suits without a blazer.

Revealing clothes were the worst fashion at work, according to 55.9 percent of those surveyed. And sweat-stained clothes troubled 35.1 percent of respondents.

“The country’s large corporations and government organizations are recommending workers wear mid-length trousers when working on weekends and national holidays so they can save energy,” a Uniqlo spokesperson said.
