Hotels, amusement parks celebrate graduation season

Luxury hotels and amusement parks are holding various promotions and events to celebrate the graduation season, which in Korea comes around in February.

Officials said a variety of benefits will be prepared to help new graduates spend quality time with their family before making a new start as some are set to enter new schools while others prepare to enter the workforce.

JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul plans to offer a series of promotions at venues throughout the hotel to celebrate this year's graduation season, running from Feb. 1 through Feb. 29.

The hotel said its promotions, which will be offered at Tavolo 24, BLT Steak, The Griffin and Seoul Baking Company, will be ideal for families celebrating together at an exciting time of new beginnings.

All-day dining restaurant Tavolo 24 offers a 50 percent discount for one graduate per group of four or more diners, presenting the perfect option for families celebrating an important milestone for a daughter or son.

Buffet dining at Tavolo 24 is priced at 78,000 won ($66) per adult at lunch time on weekdays, and at 98,000 won per adult at lunch time weekends and weekday and weekend dinner time.

This promotion is not available in conjunction with other promotions or discounts.

Iconic New York steakhouse BLT Steak offers families visiting with children graduating or about to enter college some hallabong-based mocktail welcome drinks and a signature crepe soufflee dessert for each table, creating a festive ambience to enhance every dining experience.

Hallabong is a hybrid orange-tangerine considered a representative fruit fromof Jeju Island.

This promotion is available only in the evenings.

The Griffin, 11th-floor rooftop bar that offers stunning views of the historic Dongdaemun Gate, or Heunginjimun, joins the celebratory vibe with one complimentary tequila shot with orders of draft beer, or one complimentary Baby Guinness shot, made from Kahlua milk and Baileys, with each order of Guinness stout.

This promotion is available to university and graduate school graduates and university freshmen only.

Seoul Baking Company will present one complimentary mini-bottle of Vilarnau wine with each whole cake purchased.

The hotel said all promotions are available only to those providing documentary evidence of status.

Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun Hotels & Residences will begin the Celebrate New Beginning promotion on Feb. 1 through March 15.

The promotion will be provided at the hotel's premium buffet restaurant, Food Exchange, offering a free buffet to one recent graduate or freshman, per group of three or more.

When more than three graduates or freshmen visit the restaurant together, they will be able to receive a special 30 percent discount.

Everland, an amusement park run by Samsung C&T, will hold the Hello My Twenties event for those making a fresh start this year.

The event will be the grand finale of the 2020 Begin Again with Everland campaign, a series of events such as parades and concerts that the theme park has been holding from December.

The Hello My Twenties event packed with a variety of programs will begin Feb. 1 through March 15.

The programs include an “exiting photo studio” that offers eight photo zones under a variety of themes including love and travel.

“The photo zones will offer a chance for visitors to take memorable pictures with families, friends, boyfriends and girlfriends,” an Everland official said, noting that art students at Seoul National University participated in a project to create the photo zones.
