
The Imperial Palace Seoul Hotel’s restaurant, Buffet Familiar, is presenting a special New Year menu with dishes from around the world until Jan. 30.
The list includes joraengi rice cake soup from Korea; Hoppin’ John, a southern U.S. dish made of black beans, rice, pork and vegetables; Chinese dim sum; and Osechi ryori, a Japanese lunch box with special New Year dishes.

The Ibis Styles Ambassador Seoul Myeongdong promotes its New Year cuisine at its restaurant, Le Style, until Feb. 28.
The menu includes mushrooms with soft cream sauce, escargot with mushroom cream, antipasto with truffle oil drizzle and spicy pepper rice, along with salad and desserts.
For dinner, guests can have unlimited draft beer or wine. The promotional dinner costs 29,900 won per person, including tax.
If a guest wants to add hanger steak, a signature item at Le Style, the cost will become 38,000 won.

The Conrad Seoul is offering the "Color Your Winter" package for guests with children until March 31.
It includes a one-night stay, breakfast for two at Zest, a gift of a coloring book and pencils, rainbow macaroon set and access to an indoor swimming pool and fitness center. The coloring book features the four seasons of Conrad Seoul and Conrad Bear, the hotel's bear mascot. The hotel package is for two people and costs 360,000 won, excluding tax. One extra guest under 18 will have no extra charge for the room, but at the restaurant, a third guest five years or older will be charged. The JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square has appointed Michel Eschmann as its new head chef.
Eschmann, who assumed his job, Jan. 1, was the leading chef for a gala dinner organized by the Food & Wine Gastronomy Society held in Seoul last year.
Born in Switzerland in 1983, Eschmann started his hotel chef career at Grand Hyatt Shenzhen in 2010, then worked in Shanghai, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. Right before coming to Seoul, he was the head chef at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. He also won the Swiss Culinary Cup in 2007 and others.
