JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts makes movies in an unconventional effort to promote its hotel properties around the world.
The first two movies, shot in Los Angeles and Dubai, respectively, have already been released, and the third one shot in Seoul is in the making.
Titled “Two Bellmen,” the two previous films, both released last year, offered an in-depth look into the two cities and JW Marriott in each city.
According to the trailer available on YouTube, “Two Bellmen 3” features JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul, K-pop and major tourist attractions in Seoul, including Cheonggye Stream.
Substance Over Hype Production directed the film series, casting leading Hollywood stuntmen William Spencer who worked in blockbuster films “Spider-Man” and “Spider-Man 2,” and Caine Sinclair who worked in “Seven Psychopaths,” “Transcendence” and “After Earth,” as well as Korean-American actor Lee Ki-hong and Korean-American singer Jessica Jung.
“Two Bellmen 3” will be screened at Marriott’s YouTube channel, other digital platforms and JW Marriott guest room televisions.
“In this installment, the spotlight is on Asia and particularly the beautiful city of Seoul. There is a phenomenal chemistry between elements from the hugely popular Korean traditional and pop cultures and the fun and excitement filled ‘Two Bellmen’ franchise, which we can’t wait to show audience around the world,” said Tony Chow, Marriott International’s director of creative and content marketing, for Asia Pacific region.
“The ‘Two Bellmen’ series is part of our innovative ways to encourage our target audience — especially the millennials — and win their trust and loyalty in Marriott and our hotel brands,” said Anka Twum-Baah, vice president in charge of the hotel’s customer loyalty and content. “Adding the popular Korean culture into the franchise helps drive interest and awareness on the creative content that highlights our commitment to inspiring our customers with elevated offerings and personalized experiences.”
The third installment in the series was directed and written by Daniel Malakai Cabrera, the founder of Substance Over Hype.
The series won a 2016 Telly award, a Shorty Award, Best in Hospitality and a Silver Addy Award.
