Parks service reveals 'hot' hidden valleys

Geumdae valley at Mount Chiak

The Korea National Park Service has released details of 10 “secret” valleys it believes will become hot attractions this summer vacation.

The valleys are all in major national parks but are unknown to many because of more famous valleys in the parks.

At Mount Jiri, instead of its famous Bamsagol valley, the park service recommends Dalgung valley. It is easily accessed and has camping sites.

At Mount Deogyu, rather than its popular Guchundong valley, Chilyun valley, on the opposite side, has a dense pine tree forest and the famous Chilyun waterfall.

At Mount Juwang, Julgol valley, on the southeast side of the mountain, is famous for its bizarre rocks. It is also well known as a filming location for the drama “Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring.”

At Mount Weolak, Yongha valley, between Mansu and Munsu peaks, is famous for its clean water.

At Mount Sobaek, “Namchun valley,” which only opens during the summer season, is drawing attention.

At Mount Chiak, "Geumdae valley" is well known for its eco-healing camping site with the theme "forest garden."

Other sites include Hongryudong valley at Mount Gaya; Chunbuldong valley at Mount Seorak; Mansu valley at Mount Songni, and Geumsun valley at Mount Naejang.
