Enjoy summer weekend at Park Hyatt Seoul

Are you worried about going somewhere outdoors for the weekend because of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome? If so, a staycation at a hotel might just be what you need.

Park Hyatt Seoul offers the “Summer at the Park” package, which includes a one-night stay at a standard Park King room, access to the indoor swimming pool and gym, a bottle of champagne and breakfast for two.

If you think this sounds like any other summer hotel package, think again.

First off, Park Hyatt is one of the Hyatt brand’s most luxurious chains and provides exceptional service. The staff-to-clientele ratio is 1.5, so the staff members are available almost immediately when you need them.

Cornerstone, the Park Hyatt’s flagship restaurant, offers a special deal for summer package guests. A dinner course for two is available at 80,000 won.

Each of the 185 rooms is assigned to staff members, who much like your personal assistant, looks after you and takes note of your preferences in the hotel’s comprehensive client profile system.

A Park Hyatt public relations representative cited an example. “An assigned staff member will figure out your favorite fruit by looking at what is left in the fruit basket (in your room). When you come back to the hotel for your next stay, your favorite fruits will be in the fruit basket.”

Park Hyatt aims to provide personalized service and the atmosphere of a small and elegant hotel. This explains why the hotel has only 185 rooms, while its sister hotels Grand Hyatt Seoul and Grand Hyatt Incheon each have at least 400 rooms.

The personalized service is also reflected in the rooms’ design. The hotel said its rooms are bigger than those of hotels in the same category. The wooden floors and high ceilings make the rooms seem even bigger. Each also has a “Veranda” adjustable armchair made by Cassina, a well-regarded Italian furniture manufacturer.

Park Club Spa inside the hotel provides personalized service. A professional therapist helps you relax and rejuvenate during a 90-minute treatment of your choosing.

In 2006, Time magazine picked Park Hyatt as the best place to get naked, owing to the large and deep bathtub and the view through the glass window next to the tub.

Receptionists ask what newspapers you read, which they then deliver to your room in a bag. A piece of paper in the bag provides local weather information, and the TV has a good variety of channels, including premium ones. For example, if you want to watch current affairs in the Middle East, you can tune in to the Al Jazeera channel.

Park Club Spa inside the hotel also provides personalized service. A professional therapist helps you relax and rejuvenate during a 90-minute treatment of your choosing. You also have your choice of background music during the treatment and drink after the treatment. Spa treatment is available with the summer package for an additional 260,000 won.

The all-day diner Cornerstone is Park Hyatt’s flagship restaurant, where Italian Chef Steffan Heerdt and his team serve a variety of dishes, from breakfast to their specialty, grilled meat and seafood.

They cook the dishes on ovens that burn wood from the oak tree, orange tree, cherry tree to chestnut tree. This method of cooking adds a unique woody flavor to meat and seafood.

Cornerstone offers a special deal for summer package guests. A dinner course for two is available at 80,000 won. The course includes a salad bowl with your own choice of vegetables; grilled chicken and seafood and pasta; and a plate of assorted desserts with a cup of tea or coffee.

If you feel like drinking after dinner, The Timber House, also inside the hotel, is the perfect place. The restaurant-bar has live music at night from Monday through Saturday.
