The 19th Hadong Tea Festival will open on May 22 for a four-day run at the main venue of the Tea Culture Center and nearby tea gardens in Hadong, South Gyeongsang Province.

Hadong has been one of the most famous wild green tea producing centers in Korea since the ninth century of the Silla Kingdom era. There is a place which is believed to be the spot where tea trees were first planted and raised. Hadong’s traditional tea farming was designated as one of the nation’s important agricultural heritages.

Visitors can see how tea is made and take part in some of the tea-making process, such as picking and roasting tea leaves. They can also taste tea made by tea masters.

Foods and cosmetics made of green tea are available, and participants can try making tea cups with clay.
